Disclosure: Diary of a First Time Mom partnered with McDonald’s to sample and promote its #AllDayBreakfast menu. Although some form of compensation has been received, all opinions remain my own. Dear Diary, I must confess–sometimes my daughter and I eat dessert before dinner. My mother and grandmothers would be shocked and appalled if I shared this secret with them. But as a working, single mom, I don’t stick to hard and fast rules. Heck, who am I kidding? If I was married and stayed at home, I probably would still serve cookies before the main course from time to time. We don’t always eat sweets first. Just on occasion. Only when the mood strikes. We like to shake things up, and go with the flow. Similar to when we crave breakfast items for dinner. So when we received an invitation to attend McDonald’s All Day Breakfast event, they had us at Egg McMuffin®. Along with other popular Pittsburgh bloggers, I got a behind-the-scenes look at highly-anticipated launch of All Day Breakfast. I learned that each Egg McMuffin® sandwich is made with a USDA Grade A egg freshly cracked and cooked in an ‘egg ring’–always wondered why the eggs are round! They also use real butter. Over the next ten years, McDonald’s will serve 100 percent eggs from cage-free hens. In Pittsburgh, families can order off of the McMuffin Menu, which includes the following: Sausage & Egg McMuffin Sausage McMuffin Egg McMuffin Fruit & Maple Oatmeal Sausage Burrito Fruit & Yogurt Parfait Hotcakes Hotcakes & Sausage Hash Brown It’s always Whenever O’clock, so if my little princess craves pancakes, her wish is my command! And McDonald’s answers my wishes to get a night off from cooking in the kitchen. Here’s why we order breakfast after 10:30 a.m. We Don’t Feel Guilty McDonald’s fruit is sourced from trusted growers, many of which are found in local grocery stores, and its Fruit & Maple Oatmeal delivers 32 grams of whole grain. Plus, the 1% low fat milk is bought from dairies such as Dean Foods, and the yogurt is made with Grade A low fat milk and contains live and active cultures. We Can Throw a Pajama Party My best friend once gave me great advice. When I complained about exhaustion and a hectic bedtime routine, she suggested moving up bath time. If I’m tired, I’ll get my little one bathed and in her pajamas early in the evening. We can snuggle in front of the TV , watch cartoons and read stories while eating breakfast in bed–for dinner! We Can Mix Things Up My daughter has an interesting palate. Her favorite foods include Brussels Sprouts and mussels. We can mix up the menu at McDonald’s and order Egg McMuffin sandwiches with a side of fries instead of hash browns. Hey DFTM Fam–Have you served breakfast for dinner? What’s your favorite All Day Breakfast menu items? One Response Elle November 3, 2015 I love seeing that McDonalds is taking a healthier stand for their costumers. As a vegetarian, breakfast options are much more plentiful for me. In fact, this post is just in time because I recently downloaded their app for extra deals, so I’ll have to stop by for their egg McMuffin. Your daughter looked like she enjoyed.
